Birds are truly soothing to the soul. Isn't it just great to relax and listen to birds happily chirping away? When it comes to finding total relaxation, hearing the chirping of birds at home is no doubt totally soothing. But there are some home owners that do not give importance to birds at all, not knowing that providing them with proper bird feeder houses is essential. Finding the right feeders is really not that big of an issue, especially with so many options to choose from. Suet feeders are a very common type.

A suet feeder can attract more wild birds to your backyard, especially when they are strategically placed. Woodpeckers, Tit Mice, Nuthatches, Chickadees and almost all types of birds love suet, yet there are different types of suet bird feeders. You can have something as simple as a wire cage or an old onion sack. Or better yet, try looking for simple logs and then drill holes into them.

A log suet feeder is ideal, especially if you love to see different species of birds right in own backyard. These feeders are very simple, about fifteen inches long and three inches thick. Holes are drilled into them, about 1 1/2 inches deep on each side. If you can't make your own log feeders, then you can buy the ready made feeders instead.

Fill the holes with cut up suet cakes, or even you own favorite recipes. Squirrel proof feeders, such as sandwich suet feeders, are also very popular. Here, you will be using two pieces of rough wood. The cake is placed in between the pieces of wood before being bolted together with screws.

Woodpeckers simply stick their long tongues and bills to the treats. Nuthatches and chickadees can cling without any trouble at all. Coons and squirrels, however, cannot raid such feeders, especially when baffles are used that can efficiently deter or even stop these animals.

Suet feeders can be cleaned using oxygen bleach. It is safe and it will effectively clean and sanitize the gunk off of the feeder. If you want to be able to watch the activities of birds right in your backyard, then provide them with the necessary feeders and lots of wild bird seed, in suet or not.
